Is Trump taking on the role the US played 72 years ago in changing the Iranian regime?
The Iran-Israel conflict is intensifying. It is not possible to predict exactly where the situation is going. In the meantime, US President Donald Trump has threatened to kill Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He is ‘a very easy target for America’.
Is Trump taking on the role the US played 72 years ago in changing the Iranian regime?
On Tuesday (June 17), Trump wrote on his own social media site Truth Social, ‘We are not removing him right now (meaning, not killing him!), but our patience is running out.’
Israel wants the United States to join the attack on Iran. The Trump administration is considering it. Trump is continuously discussing with top officials whether to use US warplanes and weapons to support Israel’s operation.
But there is a division among those close to Trump over the direct participation of the United States in the attack on Iran. In the meantime, a rift has begun within his ‘Make America Great Again’ (MAGA) movement.
Supporters like former Trump adviser Steve Bannon and political analyst Tucker Carlson say that the purpose of military action against Iran is not only to destroy its nuclear program. The main goal of such attacks is regime change.

“You can’t convince me that the Iranians are my enemy. It’s become completely Orwellian. Who is going to hate whom?” Carlson said on Bannon’s podcast “War Room.” Carlson was referring to the famous English novelist George Orwell’s “1984.” It is a dystopian novel in which a totalitarian government completely controls the thoughts and lives of the people, suppressing freedom.
Many in the Western world blame the Islamic Republic’s religious conservatism for opposing the current rulers of Iran. However, the history of Western intervention in Iran is not new. Western interference in Iran has been ongoing since long before the 1979 Islamic Revolution led by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.
The question now is, does Israel really want regime change in Iran? Is the United States helping to do so? And how deep is the history of Western interference in Iran?
